About Me!

Hello! My name is John Seager

Welcome to my personal, work-in-progress website!

I am a J.D. Candidate at American University Washington College of Law! At the moment, I am nearly finished with the first semester of my second year. The past semester taught me that my passion lies primarily in Intellectual Property and Tech Law, and these interests are now the driving force in my class registrations and career search!

I graduated with the Class of 2021 from the College of William & Mary with a B.S. in Neuroscience and significant coursework in Computer Science.

Self-Taught Tech Enthusiast

I have built, taken apart, and rebuilt two computers and enjoy computer & network management. Using the computer programs BOINC and Folding@Home I have remotely contributed my computational resources to help model proteins and perform research.

A project I pride myself on is my implementation of the Pi-Hole on a RaspberryPi that I have connected to my home network. The small computer allows me to run the ad-blocking software, Pi-Hole, in a such a way that protects not only laptops and desktops from invasive ads, but also smartphones!

I am very familiar with MacOS, Windows, and various Linux “distros.” I consider myself to have intermediate understanding of a few computer languages including Python, LaTeX, C++, and HTML.

I am pictured here taking apart my Windows PC to upgrade the motherboard.

A Fun Fact

I worked as a musician until my sophomore year of college as a part of the Colonial Williamsburg Fifes and Drums Program. Through the program, I became proficient in the fife, an 18th century instrument, and learned many historical facts about out the origin of our nation and its revolution. With many thanks to the people in charge of the program, from an early age I was a part of invaluable experiences.

In the picture to the left, I can be seen pictured in my time-accurate primarily red, uniform aside a friend I made from the Moroccan Drum Corp while we were behind the scenes at the 2016 Virginia Tattoo!
